Tuck is what people in the magical community call an "Anomaly". Anomalies are few and far between, and they live on the fringes of magical society, hated and feared. Instead of manifesting normally, making him a wizard like his father, or his father's father- his magic manifested in a different way. A bizarre and deadly way. He's a freak. A magical mutant, if you will.

Anything his hands come into contact with is eaten away- it crumbles and disintegrates instantly under his touch. It's not something he can control, and that only adds to his outcast status. His only defense against his magic are a pair of specially warded rings, but even those he has to replace once in a while because his powers slowly eat through the wards.

Because of this, Tuck is a fierce loner who is slow to trust and quick to insult. Don't let that fool you, though. There's a nice guy under there somewhere.
